| What
is the Crimson Club?
The Crimson Club is the fundraising arm of the Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics at the University of Utah. The Crimson Club serves to provide annual
scholarship support to University of Utah student athletes and to develop private
support for capital projects, endowments and other needs as prioritized
by Utah Athletics.
Ultimately, Crimson Club members are helping talented students gain a great education from the University of Utah, while providing the financial support which allows Utah's varsity teams to participate at the highest level in athletic competition.
Supported by businesses and individuals alike, the Crimson Club and its 4,000 members strive to make Utah Athletics the best program in the state of Utah, in the Mountain West Conference and one of the top overall programs in the nation.
Why
Do We Need YOUR Help?
Tuition Costs
As the cost of tuition at the University of Utah increases each year, the Crimson Club is called upon to provide additional dollars in support of student athlete scholarships. While tuition costs increase, the future of funding from the University appears more limited, making your Crimson Club membership more important each year.
For example, if the total cost of scholarships for all varsity sports is $3.0 million per year, and the University of Utah increases tuition 10% this year....that's a one year $300,000 jump in the dollars necessary to provide scholarships for student athletes.
Where does that money come from? You guessed it. The Crimson Club...people like you who care so deeply for the University and want to see Utah Athletics remain strong. The burden falls on us to provide ever increasing support.
Facility
Enhancement
New and renovated facilities are vitally important for the quality
of competition/practice and the safety and performance of our current
and future student athletes. Facility enhancements are essential
if Utah Athletics is to be successful at the conference and national
level. It is important for us to continue providing the very best
athletic facilities to give our coaches and student athletes a chance
to be successful and your support is a vital piece of that success.
Season
Ticket and Television Revenue Is Not Enough
At one time, not too long ago, many athletic departments earned enough money each year through ticket sales and television revenue to finance the majority of a university's athletics program. For a variety of reasons, in this day and age, football and basketball ticket sales, along with television
revenues, are not enough to support the total intercollegiate
athletic program. Private support from alumni, friends and fans provides the necessary financial support to supplement the difference.
Athletics
is the Window to the University
Utah Athletics is widely known and followed by alumni, friends and fans around the world. When Utah Athletics succeeds, much attention is focused on the University and the many outstanding programs offered at this great university.
Utah Athletics is a quality program and one that deserves your support. Ute
student athletes are active in the community, successful in the
classroom and winners in competition. You can be proud to support
the Crimson Club and Utah Athletics.
We need YOUR help and hope you will join the Crimson Club today. If you are a member, we thank you, and hope you will help us find new members or make an additional pledge of added support. |
